Recruiting Report: Rocket Watts (2019)
Six-foot-2 2019 Detroit guard Rocket Watts has an offer list that is as healthy as his EYBL numbers from weekend one. Watts has another weekend of play ahead with The Family in Indianapolis this weekend. The first weekend went well for Watts who shot 46 percent from the floor, 87 percent from the foul line, and 41 percent from the arc.
“I think we should’ve went 3-1 we had so many close games we should’ve pulled out but we played decent overall,” Watts said. “I think when we focused we can beat any team. Also, I played decent, I have to talk more on defense and lead my team better.”
The Rocket Watts offer list? Healthy. In the area of 20 major conference offers. Of those teams which group has been recruiting Watts the most consistently?
“Mizzou, Marquette, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida State, Creighton, USC, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss,” Watts listed.
Last week head coaches Andy Enfield of USC, Steve Wojciechowski of Marquette, and Tom Izzo from Michigan State were among the head coaches to make their way to Old Radford Academy in Detroit to watch Watts workout.
Watts is a four star guard ranked in the top 60 nationally and last night Minnesota offered. New Minnesota assistant coach Rob Jeter has recruited the state of Michigan well no matter where he has been. Jeter spent part of his weekend watching The Family where he and other Gopher staff members saw Watts score 23.7 points per game.
Last night the Minnesota staff extended an offer to Watts and he had a feeling it was coming.
“The offer was unexpected but I kind of thought it was coming because Coach (Jeter) from UNLV recruited me when he was there,” Watts said. “I really don’t know anything about Minnesota but I’m going to take a official visit there soon.”
Watts doesn’t know exactly when that visit will be, but it’s something he would like to do.
