Circle City Shootout: 2019 Post Standouts
The second AAU weekend for Prep Hoops Indiana is complete and we got to see some really solid teams for the second weekend. Today, we being our breakdown by class of those prospects that stuck out to us. Next up are the posts in the 2019 class.
Cole Brady | 6’7 C | Indiana Elite Metro | Carmel (IN)
Brady is a guy who really impressed me with his toughness. He is able to finish through a ton of contact and has a nose for the ball. Good, strong rebounder who brings the ball down with two hands. He could be worth a look next year for some small schools needs a tough presence in the post.
Braeden Beard | 6’5 PF | DistinXion 2019 Red | Tell City (IN)
Beard is a guy who I hadn’t see of much over his high school career and I thought that he played really well in the game I saw of him. He’s a big bodied stretch four who has the athleticism to stretch it out but can also bang around in the post due to his strength. Beard is a tailor made stretch four for a small school with his ability to do some much on both ends of the floor. Plays with a ton of energy.
Amil Stikes Jenkins | 6’7 C | Summit Elite (OH) | Ravenna (OH)
Jenkins is a guy who looks really good if you glance at him but on the court needs to work on some things. He is pretty athletic but needs to improve his quickness on the offensive end. A guy who is solid on defense as the cog in the middle but still needs the offense to come around. Once it does, he could be really good as a five man on a team. He has the body to play down low.
Spencer Hall | 6’7 PF | Summit Elite (OH) | Louisville (OH)
It took awhile for me to see something from Hall, but then in the second half he went to work in the post. He showed me that he had a really nice back to the basket game as he started to hit some turnaround floaters. He does have pretty good vision but he is slow to react to plays that are happening. Like his running mate Jenkins, he needs to get quicker which would release a lot of potential in his game.
Myles Johnson | 6’5 SF | Indiana Elite Metro | Homeschool Wildcats (IN)
Johnson looked really good in the games I saw. He’s much more active and his shot has improved since the high school season. He looks to score more at the rim and was slashing and cutting all day. He rebounds the ball well from the wing and is starting to become more aggressive and confident in the things he does.
Peyton Gray | 6’8 C | IE Side 2019 | Eastern Hancock HS (IN)
Gray could end up a good player for a D3 team down the road but right now he just isn’t ready. He can score with the ball at the rim but struggles in other areas of the game. He rotates on defense pretty slowly and needs to become more physical. If he improves his quickness, his game could get leaps and bounds better.
