Some Quick Analysis:
- The Gold 17u teams going a combined 2-6 to start doesn’t bode well for a Kentucky team making the Adidas finals in July. Both Manimal and Magic need strong weekends coming up to have a shot to make the finals in New York.
- 16u teams going a combined 9-17 probably says more about the weakness of the 2020 class in Kentucky. Most of the top players in the class are playing off the shoe circuit or out of state.
- As a whole program, The Ville had a really good showing for the weekend.
- The Magic and Manimal 16s going combined 8-0 says a lot for the depth in the 2021 class of Kentucky. Several of their top players are out of state kids but the best performers of the weekend for Manimal were Rooster Woodard and KJ Crump while the Magic were led by their in state kids like Scotty Draud.
- Some of the teams whose rosters are impressive on paper had very unimpressive weekends and will need to figure some things out before this weekend in Atlanta.
- Most of the praise for the weekend went towards Trinity’s David Johnson. New Louisville coach Chris Mack is making him a priority and David was impressive for the Ville by all accounts. Like Trinity next season, The Ville will go as far as David takes them.
