Checking in with Team Thad 2020
Team Thad is traditionally one of Tennessee’s power programs. The Under Armour-affiliated squad captured a 17u Fab 48 Championship last July. After returning from Dallas, the Team Thad 16u Head Coach Joshua Weeden shared the latest with @PrepHoopsTN.
DaQuarrius Harris (Kirby) added UMass-Lowell interest. Harris is a Class of 2019 forward playing with the 16u team. The newish DI program also expressed some interest in Memphis Raleigh-Egypt’s forward Roger McFarlane (PrepHoops #6). McFarlane is a physical specimen certain to summon MM-HM offers down the line.
Lipscomb expressed initial interest with Roger McFarlane too.
These are the other three starters for Team Thad 16u: Denver Jones (Tennessee Prep), Rodney Mason Jr. (Bartlett), and Markeston Douglass (Haywood).
The fifth best sophomore in Tennessee is Marvin Hughes. He earned his reputation last summer with Team Thad 15u.
“Vandy was there to see Marvin,” said Coach Weeden. “Murray State was there to see Marvin.”
Rodney Mason Jr. is a very bouncy forward, but he lacks the handles and shooting range to project as a college wing. He will take some dramatic basketball skill improvement to acclimate to that position, but his 6-foot-4 height dictates he must.
Lipscomb Assistant Coach Sean Rutigliano took a liking to Markeston Douglass too.
