EYBL Dallas: Friday Standouts
PrepHoops took in some action on Friday night at the Nike EYBL Session 1 in Dallas. Check out some of the standouts that we saw on the first night of the circuit.
PF James Wiseman (Bluff City)
This elite post from Memphis East was a beast on night one of Nike EYBL. The 7’0” post has incredible length and is just so explosive off the floor getting to the glass. He was a monster finish around the hoop catching passes in traffic and slamming them home all in one motion. The top ranked power forward in the country gets offensive glass for second chance points. He might run the floor better than any post in the entire country. Absolutely effortless getting up and down the floor. Wiseman was incredibly efficient in this contest shooting 9-13 from the field for 19 points to go along with 9 boards.
C Malcolm Dandridge (Bluff City)
Dandridge is a huge body on the interior. The 6’9” 230 pound center is a physically intimidating presence in the paint with his stature. He was extremely active early in their game grabbing rebounds and finishing around the cup. The 2019 prospect looks to be an excellent area rebounder and shoots it well from the charity stripe. He had 11 points.
SG Dashawn Davis (New York Lightning)
This Our Savior Lutheran (NY) standout 6’3” guard can really score the basketball. He is an athletic combo that has a burst with the rock in his hands. Davis scored well in the lane with several acrobatic conversions. Hit a pair of threes as well showing nice form. More than just a scorer he also did a nice job distributing to his teammates. He had 17 points and 6 dimes.
SF Alejandro Vasquez (New York Lightning)
Vasquez is a 6’4” forward from The Patrick School (NJ) that had a really efficient game scoring. He slashed through the defense on a number of occasions finishing with layups and runners. Also got to the charity stripe a good amount. Liked what we saw out of this 2019 forward going for 18 points on 7-9 shooting.
C Isaiah Stewart (City Rocks)
Stewart is one of the premier post prospects in the country. At 6’9” 250 pounds he is a brick wall trying to move him in the paint. The La Lumiere (IN) product started off the game slow with just an average first half, but he picked it up in the second half. The City Rocks post grabbed boards at a high rate snatching them left and right. He is such a physical rebounder with strong hands grabbing them in traffic. Offensively he finished with several slams including one where he was rewarded for running the floor hard. Plays bully ball in the paint. Excellent screener. He had 12 points and 8 boards.
C Hunter Dickinson (Team Takeover)
Dickinson is a 7 foot center in the 2020 class. His stat line of 8 points and 6 boards might not jump off the screen at you, but it is the way he goes about his business. He isn’t the most athletic big man, but knows how to use his physical tools to be successful. Defensively he anchored up against Stewart in the first half using his length to contest shots. Offensively he is skilled working well in the pick and roll as both a screener and finisher at the cup. Can hit a mid-range shot.
SG Justin Moore (Team Takeover)
Moore had a nice game. The wing is a thick guard that is very crafty scoring the basketball. He got out in transition for some finishes and scored the majority of his points in the lane. Struggled shooting it from beyond the arc. He rebounds well for his position. Finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds.
F Terrance Williams (Team Takeover)
Williams is another 2020 that impressed. The Gonzaga 6’7” physically built forward didn’t play a ton, but when he was in there he was super effective. He shot the ball well from beyond the arc drilling both of his attempts from three. Quick release off the catch. Tough and competitive forward that got on the glass and made some plays in the paint. Brings versatility to the table. He had 15 points.
