Prospect Spotlight: Ty Anderson (2020)
After a sophomore season showcasing his ability to make an impact with one of Iowa’s best teams, Ty Anderson has established himself as one of the Hawkeye State’s more intriguing young prospects.
It’s his length and versatility that make him such a promising forward, and he says UNI and Iowa have already been showing some very initial interest.
It’s his ability to play inside and out that has allowed him to flourish early in his North Scott career.
“I’ve improved a lot on my post game, getting smaller defenders on me and being able to score like that,” said Anderson. “Also, passing out of double teams, looking for open shooters, things like that. And I’m looking to improve my shooting.”
As a sophomore with the state-qualifying Lancers, Anderson was a starter and averaged 7.4 points and a team-best 4.8 rebounds per game.
“My role this season was to do the little things; scoring here and there, rebound, different, things like that,” said Anderson.
“I feel like I had a good season, but next season I’m going to have to step it up a little bit more for the team.”

He’ll play this spring and summer with the Iowa Barnstormers 16U unit, and says he’s looking to up his scoring and showcase his versatility.
“We have a good group of guys, so I’m really looking forward to playing with them. And I’ll have a role of being a main scorer on this team,” said Anderson.
“They have me playing out on the perimeter and the wing, and they have some plays for me in the post, too.“
Although the UNI and Iowa interest is in it’s very beginning stages, that’s still telling as to how his reputation is starting to spread. He could see recruitment swell as the summer approaches.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the coaches, and playing hard all the time,” said Anderson. “A goal of mine is to get more exposure this offseason.”
