Report on Prep Hoops Session I Los Angeles-Class of 2019
Prep Hoops session I Los Angeles was held Saturday and Sunday April 14-15 at Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks. Here is a look at the top prospects in the class of 2019 that caught our attention.
Top Prospects (*indicates highest consideration)
6’0 PG Jonathan Daniels of Paraclete HS 2019 (United/ Supreme/ Prospects)
Confident ball handler, goes hard in transition and can finish. Real nice pull-up game in the half court. Effective penetrator.
6’4 G/W Jarred Hyder of Cajon HS 2019 (Team Eleate)
Has a very good pull-up game in transition and in the half court. Real good passer, shoots it well with deep range, very nice floater.
*6’7 SF/PF Jalen of Clark HS 2019 (United/Supreme/Prospects)
Athletic combo forward. Finishes well in transition. Good driver with a nice first step, has a middle game in the half court.
6’7 SF/PF Darren Jones of Cajon HS 2019 (United/Supreme/Prospects)
Long and athletic combo forward who is real active. Can dribble operate and score in the post, has a solid pull-up game half court. Gets to the basket on the drive. Perimeter shot could use a little polish. Pursues rebounds aggressively.
*6’7 Festus Ndumanya of Capistrano Valley Christian HS 2019 (Cal Supreme 17)
Strong and hard-working five man with long arms. Handles a little, has a drop step on the block. Shoots it ok, active on the glass, can block a shot.
6’7 PG Justin Rene of Long Beach Poly HS, 2019 (Fastbreak Sports)
Solid all-round game. Handles it well, has a pull-up game. Drives it-has a hesitation move and a fairly good first step. Fairly good shooter with 3 range, solid floater. Capable defender.
6’4 SF Elijah Scranton of Paraclete HS 2019 (Cal United)
Athletic wing who is a nice all-round scorer from all three areas. Can finish on the drive, has a pull up middle game, shoots it with 3-point range.
6’7 W/F Lamar Wright of Murrieta Mesa HS 2019 (Team Eletae)
Long and athletic wing forward. Solid all-round scorer. Can pull up in the half court, shoots it fairly well with 3-point range, has a decent jump hook.
6’7 CF Shamar Wright of Murrieta Mesa HS 2019 (Team Eleate)
Real athletic combo forward with long arms. Can handle it, can finish in transition. Has a pull-up game, a floater drive and a turnaround shot on the block.
