Wings
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who are likely to raise their profile on the college recruiting trail in the upcoming months.
Spencer Jones, 6’6, G/F, 2019, Bishop Miege, KC Spurs
An athletic wing with terrific size and length, Jones was mostly known for his ability to simply fit in last year with Bishop Miege, a talented team that captured a state championship. However, Jones is poised for a breakout spring and summer as he brings a diverse and well-rounded skill set to the court.
Jake Potthoff, 6’6, G/F, 2019, Shawnee Mission South, MoKan Select
Although he’s not the strongest, Potthoff makes up for it with his quickness and basketball IQ. He has a versatile, well-rounded game, able to handle the ball, create for himself and others and can knock down the outside shot.
Jacob Coleman, 6’5, F/G, 2019, Basehor, MoKan Select
After putting together a strong summer playing for MoKan Select, Coleman took his game to new heights this season with Basehor-Linwood. He is an inside-out small forward who can handle the ball a little, post up and is a knock down shooter. He has put together a terrific all-around stat line this season is drawing attention from college programs.
Keehan Miller, 6’4, G/F, 2019, Wichita South
An underrated performer, Miller is a shot maker and shot creator, capable of getting buckets from all over the court. He can put it on the floor and get to the basket and can also knock down 3-pointers with ease. He is among the more underrated prospects in the 2019 class but is putting together a big junior season and drawing attention this season.
Savonni Shazor, 6’6, SG, 2019, Lawrence
Savonni is a long, rangy wing player who can do a little bit of everything. He’s a solid ball handler who can create a little off the bounce, and is a consistent outside shooter, capable of knocking down open 3-pointers. He still needs to get stronger to take his game to the next level and a good offseason could see him draw college interest.
