Indyball: 2020 Standouts
The first AAU event for Prep Hoops Indiana is complete and we got to see some really solid teams for the opening week. Having teams like EG10, UA Grind, Team Teague, and Indiana Elite gave us a glimpse at what to expect from some of the top programs this year. Today, we finish our breakdown by class of those prospects that stuck out to us continuing on with the 2020 class.
Max Gizzi – 6’0 | PG | 2020 | New Palestine (IN) | Indiana Elite East 2020
Gizzi played really well in the game that I saw on Saturday. He was getting to the basket and was scoring in bunches. He is becoming more of a floor general and is starting to be able to pull up in transition to make shots. He was very vocal in the game getting his team into it after being down by 10. Gizzi is a guy to watch over the course of this summer and he could break out in a big way.
Tristan Ross – 6’5 | PF | 2020 | Pendleton Heights (IN) | Indiana Elite East 2020
Ross is a guy that I really liked from this school season. Ross is a big body who is still trying to find his way in the game. He is a little raw around the edges but is a tough kid who has a high motor. He is able to rebound the ball really well and with that he has a ton of opportunities for put backs at the rim. Ross is a guy with a high floor/low ceiling who could become a 10/10 guy down the road.
Alex Szilagyi – 6’0 | SG | 2020 | Fishers (IN) | Indiana Elite North 2020
Szilagyi really impressed me on Saturday with his ability to shoot the ball. He is beginning to be able to get to the rim as well and is mixing it up between shooting the ball and getting to the rim. Szilagyi is a thin guard who won’t be able to get to the rim that often, but being able to do so is key. He’s a guy who in the right system is able to do really well.
Andrew Welage – 6’4 | SF | 2020 | Greensburg (IN) | Indiana Elite East 2020
Welage is one of the best 2020 players in the class and in the game that I saw struggled a bit to score the ball. He rebounded well and played really good defense though helping his team in those aspects. Welage is a guy who can fill it up pretty quickly and should breakout this upcoming year. He’s a tough nosed guy who is able to play at all three levels with ease.
