Kansas 2 guards to watch this offseason (2019)
Shooting guards
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who are likely to raise their profile on the college recruiting trail in the upcoming months.
Jake Alexander, 6’4, SG, 2019, McPherson, Run GMC
Alexander has a diverse, well-rounded skill set. He has good size at 6’4, and is a terrific athlete, capable of throwing down slams in the paint. He projects as a potential off-the-ball shooter with good size and a strong, athletic frame. He has largely been overshadowed by 2018 standouts Mason Alexander and Ben Pyle at McPherson, but next year Alexander will be carrying a lot of the heavy lifting for the Bull pups.
Braeden Belt, 6’1, G, 2019, Andover Central, SSA Elite
Belt is slight of build, but don’t let that fool you, he is a terrific all-around player, capable of shooting from the outside, getting to the basket and finishing tough chances around the basket.
Mark Grammer, 6’2, G, 2019, Salina Central
A strong, physical guard, Grammar is a tough, no-nonsense defender who has the size and athleticism to wall off opposing ball handlers. He is a solid rebounder and a standout shooter capable of lighting up a scoreboard.
Stone Jefferies, 6’1, G, 2019, Bishop Miege, Team Rush
Team Rush has a loaded backcourt with several talented players likely to take up significant playing time, but we look for Jefferies to make his mark as a scorer with the ability to make shots, play defense and play within a team concept. With the graduation of its starting line-up, Miege will likely be looking to Jefferies for production next season.
Jaden Okon, 6’4, G, 2019, Wichita Heights, NLHA
Okon is already off to a big start to this offseason as he was one of several top performers a few weeks ago in Tulsa. He is an elite athlete capable of throwing down dunk after dunk, but can also handle the ball, attack the basket and has an emerging perimeter jumper.
