Kansas guards to watch this offseason (2019)
Kansas guards to watch this offseason (2019)
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who are likely to raise their profile on the college recruiting trail in the upcoming months.
Kobe Bonner, 5’10, PG, 2018, Seaman
Bonner is a tough, defensive-minded point guard who really competes at both ends of the court. He can get in up into opposing ball handlers and create problems with his ball pressure. At the offensive end of the court, he is a willing passer, good leader and a knock down shooter from 3-point range.
Cevin Clark. 5’11, G, 2019, Arkansas City
Clark is a terrific perimeter shooter, but has a well-rounded offensive game and the ability to score at all three levels. He can pull up pff the bounce for mid-range jumpers, get all the way to the basket and has a scorer’s mentality.
D’Monte Gaw, 6’1, G, 2019, Schlagle
Gaw has good size for a guard and likes to stick his nose in the paint and gets tough rebounds — especially at the defensive end of the court. A solid, all-around player, Gaw is terrific off the bounce and is a good creator for himself and others.
Clearance King, 6’3, PG, 2019, Lawrence, KC Run GMC
King was putting together a huge offseason a year ago with KC Run GMC when his offseason was ended by injury. He made his way back into the Lawrence line-up this season, but was still getting his legs under him. He has a big frame and a diverse, well-rounded skill set for a point guard with a bright future.
Keyon Thomas, 5’10, PG, 2019, Bonner Springs, KC Spurs
A point guard with elite speed and quickness and the ability to lead a team and score from all three levels. He has good court vision, is a good leader and while he can score, he mostly focuses on being a point guard.
