Recruiting Report: Samuel Schwartz (2019)
White Bear Lake’s program took a massive step forward this year behind a strong junior class. Six-foot-4 wing Samuel Schwartz is a key part of the WBL Bears movement.
“Overall this past season went very well,” Sam told Prep Hoops. “It was our first winning season in a couple seasons. Our team was primarily made up of juniors, so going into next year we will have a ton of experience to build on. Personally the season went well.”
Samuel scored 16.7 points per game while leading the team in rebounding at 7.4 a contest plus 2.8 assists a game.
“I have most improved my ball handling, and mid-range shooting at this point in my career,” Schwartz said. “Also been my shot has been getting more consistent.”
Schwartz is playing with Heat MacDonald and in their opening weekend in St. Cloud the split their games in the Comets Shootout. Now it’s off to the Heat Jamboree this evening and then to Omaha over the weekend for Midwest Live.
“I am playing with Heat MacDonald this spring/summer, and so far our team looks good. We are still getting comfortable playing with each other as we have a couple new guys, but we are very versatile. Once we are all on the same page we are going to be really good.”
Schools in the MIAC are heavily after Schwartz but he’s also got scholarship programs in contact as well.
“I have been contacted by a couple of colleges so far, like Carleton, Jamestown, UM-Crookston, St. John’s, St. Mary’s, and Concordia Moorhead,” Samuel said.
