In my time as a contributor to Prep Hoops Michigan, I have published exactly 200 articles. I have covered players from all over the state and all levels of play. I’ve been lucky enough to write about players with NBA potential all the way to kids that are simply looking for an opportunity. To celebrate my 200th article, I’ll give you 10 forwards that you could see on a college roster someday.
Romeo Weems (2019, SF, New Haven)
This young man is special. He doesn’t just have next level potential, he has pro skills. Weems is versatile enough to play up to four positions on the floor. He is versatile enough to be an elite scorer, rebounder, assist maker, and defender. Weems is smooth, athletic, and powerful all wrapped into one.
Carrington McCaskill (2019, PF, Detroit Renaissance )
McCaskill is one of the best pure athletes around. He plays above the rim and uses his athleticism on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he’s an incredible finisher and can throw down monster dunks. Defensively he rebounds and blocks shots.
Myron Gardner (2019, SF, Detroit Loyola)
Gardner is a solid athlete with a next level skill set. He’s a versatile player who can guard multiple positions. Gardner is tough on the boards and likes to score on put backs. He is a high motor player that doesn’t like to be outworked.
Luke Maranka (2019, F, Hoops For Heaven Homeschool)
Maranka is definitely a next level basketball player. He has the size and skill set that sets him apart from others. Maranka is an excellent shooter who can fill it up from deep. He’s also a very good athlete who can finish with a big dunk.
Mike Fletcher (2019, PF, Flint Carman Ainsworth)
Fletcher is a beast. He may be the strongest basketball player in Michigan. Fletcher certainly knows how to use his powerful frame. He is an excellent rebounder who has the ability to always get in position for a board. Fletcher uses his strength to dominate the paint. The only reason you may not see him playing college basketball is because of how great of a football player he is.
Isaiah Jackson (2020, F, Old Redford)
Jackson is elite on a national level. He can score from anywhere on the court. Jackson uses his athleticism to score and defend with the best in the country. He can play above the rim and has a great wingspan.
Carlos Johnson (2020, SF, Benton Harbor)
Johnson is a double-double machine. He has high major potential. Johnson is an athletic and strong player who can dominate a game on the glass, scoring, or on defense. As his perimeter game continues to develop he stock will rise even higher.
Maliq Carr (2020, F, Oak Park)
Carr is a multi sport star. He has a combination of strength and athleticism that makes him a special athlete. Carr uses his physicality to score in the post and has the ball skills to get to the basket.
William Dunn (2020, F, Quincy)
Dunn is a unique player and is fun to watch. He has a blend of size and skills that make him extremely an valuable forward. Dunn can score in multiple ways. He’s a next level forward that is a must see player.
Connor Bush (2020, F, Belleville)
Bush is a high energy and high motor player. He’s active on the glass and will battle for every rebound. Bush is a solid defender who can guard multiple positions on the perimeter and in the paint. Bush can score from the perimeter or in the post.
