2020 Rankings Update: Biggest Risers
Now that the class of 2020 has completed their Sophomore seasons, they are about to hit AAU circuit for their 16u season. Here’s a breakdown of the players who made the biggest moves up the rankings since our last update:
Marques Warrick, Henry Clay (17–>3) – Warrick made a big move into the top 5 and the discussion for top player in the class with stellar play in the last two months of the season. Look for Warrick to average over 20 points per game next season and possibly pick up some scholarship offers this AAU season.
Jackson Sivils, McCracken County (18–>4) – Sivils started to get some recognition from outside the first region when he played well for McCracken County in the state tournament. Jackson has a lot of the intangibles you look for in a player and good size for the position.
Amari Taylor, Tates Creek (14–>6) – Finally healthy again, Taylor moves back up the rankings. Amari is skilled and a decent athlete but he has to show increased defensive abilities to remain this high in the rankings. Taylor will get plenty of opportunities during the AAU season to show he can guard athletes.
Matt Cromer, South Laurel (36–>15) – Cromer shot up the rankings with his ability to score and not being afraid of the big moment. Matt hit a huge three to send the 13th region championship game to overtime. He’s likely to be one of the top 4 players in the region next season and South Laurel should be the favorite to win the region and advance to Rupp.
Kobe Brents, Glasgow (34–>19) – Brents is another player who has started to establish himself as a top player in his region for the next 2 years. Kobe has a knack for taking and making big shots and will only get better as a driver and defender.
Trey Brock, Bell County (Unranked–>23) – Brock is one of the best athletes in the class. He’s been measured with a 41 inch vertical jump and throws down dunks anyway you want them. In order for Trey to reach the next level, he needs to become a better on-ball defender and tighten up his ball handling.
Terrin Hamilton, Scott County (48–>28) – Brock’s AAU teammate burst on the scene late in the regular season for the Cardinals. Hamilton scored 16 points in the regional tournament opener while shooting perfect from the field. Terrin should see an increased role next season. If Hamilton can increase his strength and get his motor running every possession, he can attract small college attention.
