Top Shooter at the Spring Kickoff
The Prep Hoops Spring Kickoff brought out some of the best players from the region to showcase their stuff. While there were plenty of dunkers, slashers, stock risers and defenders, this article focuses on the best shooters from a very busy weekend.
Cade Palmer – Colorado Miners
Cade was electric from beyond the arc. He even had a game in which he knocked down five 3-pointers and opened up the floor with his ability to knock his shot down. Opposing teams made it a point to try and run him off of the 3-point line and he made them pay with mid-range pull ups. He’s a shooter that you must account for at all times and he showed that on Saturday.
Spencer Jones – KC Spurs
It might not look the best and may take a moment to get set, but once he gets it off – it’s going in. He has a really good feel for the game and puts himself as a top performer for the weekend with his deadly range. In the game that the team was eliminated, it was him that gave them a fighting chance as he knocked down clutch shot after clutch shot.
Devin Carter – Colorado Hawks
He was one of the standout performers for the weekend and definitely the top shooter in the class of 2020. The Hawks were blowing teams out with their defense as they suffocated teams full court in which they got plenty of fast break opportunities, but whenever they found Devin at the top of the key, it was falling. Devin uses his long, slender body and has the ability to shoot it off the dribble or knock down the open shot. What separates him is his ability to create on his own.
Chase Hettinger – Colorado Hawks
Chase was on fire on Saturday and is one of the better shooters in the state. He couldn’t be stopped and is often times put in the prime position to shoot the ball and he does without hesitation. He’s on a very good and balanced Colorado Hawks team so adding a player that can go inside and bang with the big man, score off the dribble or knock down the shot makes them a more dangerous team.
Tyler Unger – Colorado Chaos
Although the Chaos lost, Unger made a difference. He can come into games and change the outcome as he is a microwave, once he hits one, more are coming. He has great size and carried much of the load for a Chaos team that will start to gel as the summer progresses.
