Adidas Invitational (Class of 2021 Point/Combo Guards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2021 point/combo guards from last weekend’s Adidias Invitational:
Sharrod Alexander 5’11” Midwest Jets: An exciting point guard who plays with a high motor at all times. Led his team to the championship game of the 15U division. Scored 23 in an impressive performance in a victory over Gateway in the semifinals. He attacks the basket relentlessly, but he is able to finish well in the land of the trees. He plays at a fast pace and keeps coming.
Kyle Conkright 5’10” Bullets: A nice point guard from Ellington who helped lead the Bullets to a surprise championship in the 15U Division, thus earning a share of the MVP award. He plays with a lot of poise with the ball with his handles, passing and perimeter shooting. Hit a step-back 25-footer at the buzzer to beat the IL Bears 49-48 in the semifinals to put his team in the championship game.
Ethan Lattimore 5’9″ Larry Hughes Basketball Academy: Small point guard who plays with a lot of confidence. He’s not afraid to take chances and make big plays. He has good handles against pressure and he passes well with both hands. Not all guards can do that. He also has a nice stroke from 3-point range, which he displayed throughout the weekend.
Joseph Hardimon 5’10” SEMO Bulls: The younger brother of 17U standout Dominique Hardimon, Joseph is a point guard who has the build of a running back in football. Not surprisingly, he is strong with the ball and does a nice job of getting to the basket and making plays. He is a solid defensive player as well.
Brendan Deters 6’1″ Gateway: Young guard who did a nice job of playing at a fast pace while not turning it over. He keeps things moving whether he has the ball or not. He displayed some good dribble-drive moves to the basket and the the ability to knock down perimeter jumpers as well.
