Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top remaining Kansas City area players in the 2018 class on the board.
TJ Babikir, 6’2, SG, 2018, North Kansas City
A big guard with good size and a strong frame, Babikir is one of the state’s most underrated performers, a guard capable of getting buckets, carrying a team at the offensive end of the court, yet capable of contributing in other areas as well. Babikir is a standout shot creator, can get to the bucket and can even post up on occasion. He is also a solid rebounder and competes at the defensive end.
Deng Bol, 6’3, G, 2018, North Kansas City
One of the Kansas City area’s most underrated performers, Bol is a terrific lead guard, capable of getting to the basket, creating plays off the bounce and knocking down outside shots. He struggles at times to finish plays around the basket and needs to get stronger, but he shows flashes of brilliance. Bol is also a terrific defender with a lot of potential at that level.
Will Eames, 6’6, F, 2018, Lee’s Summit
At 6’6, Eames lacks elite athleticism and instead largely relies on a unique and high level skill set. He can finish with either hand, handles the ball and when he gets hot from distance — look out. Eames is a well rounded player with a lot of old school in his game.
Jack Gillig, 6’2, G, 2018, Blue Springs South
One of the Kansas City area’s premier shooters, Gillig largely came out of nowhere to put together a big senior season. He combined good size, toughness and a versatile, well-rounded skill set.
Cecil Lee, 6’5, F, 2018, Park Hill
Lee is playing this spring with the KC Pacers Blue 17U squad and continues to showcase the skills as a rim-running and rim-protecting big man. He is a terrific shot blocker and is capable of throwing down dunks and can defend multiple positions. Lee is also improving his all-around skill set as an outside shooter and ball handler.
Jamar Madge Jr, 6’2, G, 2018, Raytown South
Easily one of the better guards in the Kansas City area this past season, Madge took his game to new heights, showing the ability to play either guard spot with confidence. He can play above the rim, get to the bucket and has both a good mid-range game and the ability to shoot from distance. He also displays good leadership qualities.
Sadique Perkins, 6’4, G, 2018, Park Hill South
At 6’4, Perkins is an all-around player with a versatile skill set who has the ability to score on the wing, but can also play inside when needed. He has the potential to be a talented defender at the next level, capable of guarding multiple spots.
