Litchfield wing Owen Boerema is a versatile, efficient 6-foot-4 wing that is one of the more talented, under the radar players in the state of Minnesota’s 2019 class.
“Things this winter went well,” Owen told NHR. “We had a team of young, relatively inexperienced guys, and I thought we played well, and surprised some people.”
Owen was one of the few turning Dragons players this year so he had a lot more responsibility on his shoulders, and grew with that responsibility.
“Personally, it took some time to get used to a new role on the team, but towards the end of the season things started to pick up,” Owen said. “I am stronger this year than in past years, which improves all facets of my game. My shooting has become more consistent, and this year, I attacked the basket more than in past years.”
Owen averaged 17.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals a game as a junior. Now he is playing with the Minnesota Crossfire and just completed his first weekend with the club.
“We have only had a few practices, but I love the team and the coaches already.”
College programs have been tracking Owen consistently through the winter.
“I have had a few colleges contact me, mostly in the area,” Owen said.
“St. John’s and Gustavus have both shown interest, as has Winona state, University of Sioux Falls, Carleton, and Dakota Wesleyan.”
