Recruiting Report: Jayden Johnson (2020)
Top 10 2020 Batavia small forward Jayden Johnson is a productive wing. He will never jump off the floor at you athletically, but he is just so skilled. Johnson is a 6’5” wing that can really shoot the basketball from the perimeter. Outstanding shooter particularly off the catch. Johnson lets it fly from deep with a lot of confidence. Can also shot fake and finish in the lane with a runner. Competes on the glass. He was pretty consistent scoring in the upper teens all weekend except for his last game where he struggled. Johnson should be on the mid-major radar in 2020.
How was his sophomore campaign?
“It went real well. We ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs, but I thought we played well. Overall individually I think I played well. I just have to work on getting to the basket and show people I can do everything.”
He spoke about the growth in his game.
“My defense and lateral movement I think has gotten better. Also my passing. Being a team leader. I think that is big in my game and something I excel at.”
What is he looking forward to this spring and summer with Fundamental U?
“Getting back on the circuit with the guys and playing hard every game.”
Stanford and Ohio State are two high major schools that have shown early interest in Johnson. Others that are in the mix are Western Illinois, Illinois State, Eastern Illinois, New Hampshire, and William & Mary.
