Prospect Spotlight: Ajal Juang (2021)
Judge Memorial 6-foot-3 guard Ajal Juang is ahead of the curve when is comes to having high-level basketball experience.
The freshman guard was a member of the Bulldogs’ varsity all season, and used his existing big-man skills to compliment his burgeoning guard skills to make an impact.
“I wasn’t always a guard, growing up I was a big, but then I started to transfer to a guard position. That’s when I started getting my handles better,” said Juang. “And now I’m just a slasher, and I’m a good rebounder and a triple-threat.”
He added: “I need to work on my shooting, that’s one thing I really need to develop. And I just need to get my handles more tight.”
Juang started a couple games, but mostly was coming off the bench for his team this season. He says his role was to be athletic and grab boards.
“My role on varsity was to get rebounds and I was one of the predominant bigs. I was a really athletic big,” said Juang, who looked ahead a bit to his sophomore season.
“Starting varsity is a goal of mine for next season, and being a leader on my team and just developing more as a guard.”
In the meantime, though, he’ll play with UBC Elite 15U this spring and summer. It’s his first year playing with the Nike-sponsored program.
“I’m looking forward to grow as a player and see how the competition is out there, other than just in Utah,” said Juang, who’s hoping to get some exposure this offseason.
“That’s one of my goals, is to just get my name out there. And show I can become a great player.”
