Top Available Unsigned Seniors
Class of 2018
- Cameron Copeland (Douglas County High School)
- Copeland, after an already successful senior prep campaign, made his presence felt at The Opening Showcase this past weekend with Team A.J. Bouye. The 6’5” wing is a lanky scorer that got it done on all levels and in different types of styles. In more of an up and down game he was efficient when putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim but when the game slowed down, he was a knock down shooter with pretty release spotting up and off the bounce. A double digit scorer for the Tigers at 12.3ppg, Coleman can be an asset offensively to collegiate program and especially with more work in the weight room. Eastern Washington is the latest school to offer.
- Fionn Brown (Marietta High School)
- Brown, who already stands at 6’5”, is one of the most athletic prospects available in the state of Georgia. Lobs, dunks, and tip-in lay-ups made up most of the offensive production for the unsigned senior but he was also able to help on the glass for his team, “Just Us.” He can get out and defend on the perimeter and looked comfortable catching the ball on the sideline break, finishing on both sides. Athletic prospects are valuable at the collegiate level because of the their defensive potential and rebounding abilities and I believe that Brown will give you just that along with easy fast break or half court finishes.
- Bryce Latimer (Stephenson High School)
- The point guard out of Stone Mountain runs with “Team EAT” on the aau trail and made impressive plays in every game I saw. He is a blur with the basketball and a tough finisher as he made his way to the basket early and often. He is undersized at 5’8” but you’ve got to love the tenacity that this kids plays with on the floor. He will pick and defend and can turn that into instant offense on the other end. Latimer was a pleasure to watch and true leader on the floor as he commanded his team in some competitive action over the weekend.
- Jaylen Bussey (Discovery High School)
- Bussey was a smooth operator over the weekend at “The Opening” showcase. Running with a lot of other unsigned seniors in the Smyrna Stars program, they were invested every second in the floor and it showed. Bussey has good size at 6’2” and a solid overall offensive game. He is very patient with the basketball especially on pick and roll situations, making great decisions when they needed to be made. He has a solid jumper from three as he knocked down several from all around the arc and has is physically ready to take bumps when driving the ball to the rim. East Georgia State College has offered.
- Stantravious Smith (Sherwood Christian Academy)
Stantravious Smith
- If you’re looking for a high volume scorer, then Smith is tour guy. The Sherwood Christian Academy prospect averaged over 34ppg in Georgia’s Independent Association and continued that offensive out put against equivalent or better competition at The Opening. Smith is good at getting to his spots on the floor and doesn’t have a weakness at any level as he mixes his offensive production every time out. Georgia Southwestern and the University of South Carolina Upstate have been the latest to reach out the senior, and his multiple ability to put the ball in the basket should make for an easy transition at the next level.
