Prep Hoops Route 66 Kickoff 17U Standouts
Prep Hoops kicked off the spring in Oklahoma City on Friday night. See what 17U players stood out on opening night in the 17U division!
Xavier Cork 2019 Dallas Showtyme Post
Cork is a big physical Post that rebounds the ball very well at 6’8. He is explosive, which helps him to finish strong and rebound the basketball at a high level. Defensively, Cork gave opposing players trouble adjusting and impacting their shots throughout the game. Cork is a monster on the block and appears to be set for a great summer.
Keller Boothby 2019 Dallas Showtyme Elite Wing
Boothby is a 6’6 Forward/Wing that shined scoring the basketball at a high rate. He was efficient scoring at all three levels. Boothby has a smooth shot and is tough finishing the ball through contact.
Deaunte Lee 2019 Dallas Showtyme Elite Guard
Lee scored at all three levels. The clutch factor of Lee is off the charts. Even though the defense did everything in their power to keep the ball out of his hands Lee was able to get open because of his quickness and great ability to move without the basketball. Lee was one of the best players in the gym on Friday.
Keyon Carddock 2019 Dallas Showtyme Elite Point Guard
Carddock was tremendous creating off the dribble for Dallas Showtyme Elite. He pushes the pace extremely well getting his team going in transition. Carddock scored it best getting to the rim and using his quickness and athleticism to finish. He did also show a respectable jumper.
Jett Sternberger 2019 Game Changer Hoops Point Guard
Sternberger shot the ball lights out from behind the arc. He thrived in spot-up three-point situations making the defense pay for leaving him open. This summer Sternberger will be one of the top NCAA Division II recruits out of Oklahoma.
Denis Mitchell 2019 Game Changer Hoops 17U White Post
Mitchell is a 6’6 raw talented strong Forward. He dominated the boards on both ends of the floor making it his mission to box out each time. The other area Mitchell impressed was on defense blocking shots inside. Mitchell scores it around the rim at a solid rate. If he can develop offensively he could end up being a solid lower level small college player.
Jayden Modrall 2018 CHAMPS Forward
Modrall rebounded well and stretched the floor for CHAMPS as a four-man. He stretched the floor with a nice three-pointer as well. He could find his way onto a small college roster with continued development.
Kenny Springs 2018 Team Cougars Guard
Springs was super active on Friday night reeking havoc on the opponent. He has shown great improvement in the past year in his jumper, which was on full display Friday night. Springs is currently committed to Redlands. What separates him from other players is the intense defense he brings to the floor non-stop.
Andy Lizardo 2019 Honey Badgers Forward
Lizardo is a typical undersized Forward in Oklahoma size wise with a rare knack for making plays for his team. He scored the ball great inside around the basket and also showed a nice mid-range jumper. Lizardo fits the small college mold of a stretch four with a strong frame that plays extremely hard. He projects to the NAIA Division II level.
Jamal Clark 2018 Team Cougars Point Guard
Clark dominated the game getting to the rim at will by using his quickness off the dribble. He was good at creating for others and is feisty on defense. He could be a good late snag for a small college late with his skill set and high motor.
Jalen Williams 2018 Team Cougars Point Guard
Williams is a small Point Guard that played with a ton of heart. He is super quick with the ball in his hands helping him to be excellent at creating for others. On top of his quickness, he has a good feel for the game being able to put the ball in the perfect place to an open teammate. Williams shot the ball lights out from three-point range.
