Undiscovered Sleepers: 6-7 and Under
In this article:
Latrell Jones, Believe Prep Academy
The hyper-athletic 6-foot-5 left handed guard is a veritable sky-riser. Bolstered by explosive vertical leaping ability, Jones has the style and make up that would enable him to thrive in a souped-up system. A consistent scorer, Jones still needs to get stronger in adapting to the physical demands of the next level. Especially when you consider how much his game is predicated on knifing to the rim and finishing above the rim.
Lawrence Slim, Scotland Campus Sports
The 6-foot-7 Amsterdam, Holland native is a high level shooter with deep range from way beyond the confines of the arc. He’s shed the label of strictly a shooter by becoming more crafty as a scorer and finessing his finishes inside the key.
Must pack on muscle and develop a more physical game as he adapts to the NCAA level.
Taylor Trudeau, Mount Dora Christian Academy
While he may not pass the eye test, Trudeau is a sneaky athletic guard with a high level shooting skill set. He’s got the type of monstrous scoring engine that enables him to take over games, as he’s done multiple times this season.
Playing elite competition with 1Family on the AAU circuit, Trudeau has been able to thread through box-and-ones and all types of junk defenses aimed to neutralize him. A first team All Lake County selection, the 6-foot-3 guard is one of the best shooters in Florida period. He’s getting overlooked and slipping through some cracks recruitment wise.
Jared Grubb, Believe Prep Academy
The well-built 6-foot-1 guard is a high level scorer who can get his points in a variety of ways. He’s been proven to ignite runs with his 3-point shooting ability and can also barrel his way to the rim. An all-state football player coming out of Kentucky, Grubb utilizes that physicality on the defensive side.
A 2,000+ point scorer during an illustrious high school career that saw him earn significant playing time as an eighth grader, Grubb would be a major late get on the low-major Division-I level.
Seven Ferguson, Mater Academy
The 6-foot-4 guard doesn’t exactly shine in one particular category. Yet with his motor and constant boundless energy, Ferguson leaves his fingerprints all across the stat sheet.
He’s athletic, he defends multiple positions and he can score effectively via hustle points. He’s a guarantee to play hard at all times–he simply knows no other way.
Eli Cadet, Northeast High
A very seasoned 6-foot-4 guard, Cadet has shown flashes of elite level finishing and extraterrestrial athletic ability. He’s an emotional, high energy guy who constantly employs the chip on his shoulder mentality on the court.
Sam Rolle, Suncoast
A very effective supplementary piece, Rolle is known for his quick release shot and ability to dial in from downtown. He’s a good momentum source, as he’s been a consistent threat to hit pressure-spiked 3-pointers.
Makye Bowles, Suncoast
A physical and fundamentally sound 6-foot-5 forward, Bowles displayed maturity beyond his years this season. The Class of 2021 prospect was constantly attacking the glass and delivering interior buckets at critical sequences.
Very poised and productive down low, Bowles will need to develop a mid-range game and a fluid shot as he continues to progress.
