2018 Hillsborough vs. Pinellas All-Star Game Preview
On Friday, the high school All-Star season officially comes to a close.
At Hillsborough Community College, the top players from Hillsborough County will go toe to toe with the Pinellas County elite.
The girls game is set for a 6:30 p.m. ET tipoff with the boys game set to be played after that.
Here is a look at the two rosters and how this game shapes up.
Pinellas County: Serrel Smith (St. Petersburg), Tai Strickland (St. Petersburg), David Pierce (Gibbs), Duncan Demuth (Seminole), C.J. Williams (Countryside), Matthew Berry (Countryside), Zhahidi Robinson (Largo), D.J. Anderson (St. Petersburg), Jarroda Briscoe (Boca Ciega) and Amant Deliu (Largo).
Hillsborough County: Matt Simpson (Plant City), Isaiah Hodge (Lennard), Bryce Workman (Sickles), Tim Carter (Tampa Catholic), Isaiah Thomas (Brooks DeBartolo), Thierry Moliere (Jesuit), Christian Schach (Tampa Prep), Tyrick Brascom (Tampa Bay Tech), Myles Cowart (Hillsborough), Isaiah Islam (Newsome) and Tristan Evans (Plant City).
Bottom line
It is hard to point at the Pinellas roster and not think they have a slight advantage. With the St. Pete duo of Serrel Smith and Tai Strickland (Wisconsin commit), Gibbs guard David Pierce (Coastal Carolina commit) and Seminole forward Duncan Demuth (Oklahoma State commit) at the forefront it will be tough.
Add in the Countryside duo of Matthew Berry and C.J. Williams, Largo playmakers Zhahidi Robinson and Amant Deliu and Boca Ciega forward Jarroda Briscoe, the Pinellas squad is deep. This is a big chance for Smith to showcase his game one last time with his recruitment open once again following his de-commitment from Ole Miss.
For Hillsborough, Lennard forward Isaiah Hodge is the most athletic and dynamic player. This team is deep with point guards with Tim Carter (Tampa Catholic), Thierry Moliere (Jesuit), Tyrick Brascom (Tampa Bay Tech), Isaiah Thomas (Brooks DeBartolo), Isaiah Islam (Newsome) and Matt Simpson (Plant City).
Myles Cowart (Hillsborough), Tristan Evans (Plant City) and Christian Schach (Tampa Prep) can all hurt you from deep when given proper time.
Expect a good crowd as Pinellas always brings the fans and for the Hillsborough side, there is a ton of interest with the entire team yet to make their college commitments. This isn’t your usual senior All-Star Game. It will be a fun one.
