Recruiting Report: Devon House (2020)
Sterling Newman 2020 center Devon House is one of the top back to the basket prospects in the state of Illinois in the sophomore class. He has grown to 6’8” and is in much better physical shape than we saw him a year ago. House led his team to the state finals in Peoria this past season. We caught up with him to discuss that experience.
“This year individually it was a great year for me and my teammates too. Went down to state where we got third place. We should be back next year. I averaged about 18 points and 9 rebounds a game. I played my game and helped get my team to state.”
Playing at state will help him the next two seasons of high school ball.
“It is going to help me improve. Leading my team to state was really tough. I had some good stepping up which I needed to do. I think it is going to help me out a lot. I want to get down there again. It was a great experience with my teammates with the huge gym and crowd.”
Where did he see the most growth in his game?
“I have gotten in shape more. I have gotten taller. My dribbling has improved. Shooting too. My footwork I have worked on.”
He talked about what he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I can lead a team as a big man. Passing it as a big guy. Take over a game in the post.”
What schools have shown early interest in the Quad City Elite 16U post?
“Northern Illinois, Western Illinois, Virginia Tech, Northern Iowa, and a few more.”
