Recruiting Report: Max Christie (2021)
Rolling Meadows guard Max Christie will debut at #1 in the 2021 rankings in June. For now at least that debate is over. This 6’4” wing has been incredible early in the spring! He has a long and lean body that he will need to add strength onto as time goes on, but this kid has it all skill wise. Versatile being able to play the 1 through the 3. Handles it getting pretty much wherever he wants on the floor with relative ease. Feathery jump shot from all over the floor. He is especially lethal with it pulling up from mid-range, but can definitely stretch to three. Excellent passer for a wing that could almost be a point-forward. Christie is a no doubt high-major prospect.
He talked about his monster freshman season.
“It went pretty well actually. Toward the end we started winning a lot of games We lost to Viator at the end, but it was a great season. It was a great challenge. I scored a lot of points and grabbed a lot of rebounds. Being a leader it was fun playing on the team and I thought I had a great year.”
Where did he improve the most?
“Physically I think I have gotten a little bit bigger and taller. Mentally I think the game a little bit different. I am smarter. I think my shooting got better.”
He is running with the Illinois Wolves on the 15U level.
“The Wolves are a great team with great teammates. I am looking forward to playing great competition in the UAA circuit. It is very competitive. I am looking to get better.”
He has looks from a pair of high-major schools.
“I have a DePaul offer and Northwestern interest.”
Northwestern is a school that he visited during the season.
“It was real cool seeing the team play, going in the locker room meeting all the players, and talking to Chris Collins.”
Any programs he wants to get out to see during the spring?
“Northwestern again, Ohio State maybe, also Loyola.”
