Recruiting Report: Bryant Brown (2019)
Class of 2019 Bryant Brown is an intriguing 6’6” wing from Waukegan. He is coming off a productive high school season where he was the man on his team. Going back to the Illinois Wolves he took some of that mentality into the spring. Was impressed with how he shot the ball from the perimeter drilling multiple threes and was especially effective from the corners. Seemed a lot more confident shooting it. Off the dribble he struggled some finishing, but got multiple offensive rebounds with his second jump. Most impressive move was a baseline take that he hammered home in one of the games we evaluated. Brown is currently a mid-major prospect.
He broke down his junior high school season at Waukegan.
“Junior year personally was better than my sophomore year. We had a bad record. We lost a lot of close games. We were pretty young. A lot of juniors. I think we will be better next year.”
What areas of his skill set have improved the most heading into this spring with the Illinois Wolves?
“As a player I have been working on my shot since last year. Handling the ball and trying to get quicker laterally.”
He discussed what he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I work really hard. I am a good teammate. I can bring those things. I can score and defend multiple positions.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I don’t have any offers. Butler just text my coach. Northwestern has contacted me. Loyola went to some games.”
