Intro: AJ Casey (2022)
AJ Casey is one of the premier 2022 prospects entering the state of Illinois next season. He told us he will either attend Simeon or Whitney Young. The 6’7” center is a young big that has size, but has game to back it up. He has a projectable frame with long arms and broad shoulders. Should be able to add weight on easy over the next few years. Incredibly mobile for his size with fluid post moves and runs the floor like a deer! Flashes advanced footwork in the post already and gets on the glass. Casey has a chance to be special. Already holds two D1 offers. Tracking very early as a high-major prospect.
He spoke about his final year of middle school ball.
“It went real good. We went undefeated in the regular season for the third year in a row going 22-0. We lost in the final four of the playoffs.”
He likes playing high level competition with Meanstreets 14U.
“It improves my game because in middle school season it wasn’t really that competitive. I like to compete. I am a very competitive guy.”
What does he bring to the table as a prospect?
“My strengths are I can post up very well. I play tenacious defense. I am an ok shooter that needs to work on that more. I can handle the ball some too.”
He hasn’t decided on a high school, but it is down to two elite schools.
“Whitney Young and Simeon. I will decide sometime in June.”
What is going on with his college recruitment?
“I have two D1 offers from DePaul and Tulane.”
