Key 2021 Prospects
The 2017-2018 season has ended and we are now in AAU season. The class of 2021 freshman campaign is now over and it is now time for these prospects to start getting ready for their sophomore campaign and to develop into better players for next season. Here are a few key 2021 prospects that have caught the media’s attention during the high school season and who college coaches should keep their eye on this spring and summer on the AAU circuit.
6’5 forward Cole Middleton – Pace Academy
This kid has emerged himself into a premier and primary prospect after a great season with Pace. Cole has developed into an effecient forward on the offensive and defensive end. He is a forward who’s 6’5 body frame puts him at an advantage where he can play the 3 through 5 positions. He can be an elite shot blocker and is certainly a fabolous rebounder. His ability to crash the glass helps him finish inside the paint. Pace Academy has a future star in the making with this kid, remember this is the same school who had future top 10 NBA draft pick forward Wendell Carter of Duke. There’s no Wendell Carter in Cole Middleton, of course with the size difference, but the coaching staff at Pace will certainly help Cole develop into one of the best forwards in the country and state of Georgia. Cole will be running with Hype Hawks this spring and summer on the AAU circuit.
6’10 center Frank Anselem – Westlake High School
One of the top centers in the country for the class of 2021 will be Mr. Anselem of Westlake High School. Frank is a very lengthy center who has incredibly long arms. Those long arms help him be one of the best shot blockers in the state. As a center he is also able corral rebounds on defense and offense. Frank is not fully developed as of yet for a center but let us remember he is only a freshman and is in the hands of Westlake, who has been known for their basketball power over the years. He already has a couple offers from SEC schools such as Tennessee and Ole Miss. Frank will be running with Georgia Stars on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer which will definitely carry his game to the next level. We should a expect big things coming in the next three years from this kid.
6’5 wing Jamal Clyce – Pebblebrook High School
The 6’5 wing Jamal Clyce will be the next big prospect out of Mabelton. Clyce played a very important role during his freshman campaign with Pebblebrook. He was a 7th or 8th man in a deep guard oreintated style of play for Coach Washington and the Falcons. His role will be even bigger in his sophomore season due to his experience on varsity. Jamal is a true wing who can defend bigger opponents and is not afraid to get physical, especially down low. On the offensive end Jamal is able to attack off the dribble at times and can make his way to the basket and finish around the rim. He has major upside and will be a prospect college coaches should follow through his high school career. Jamal will be running with the GA Stars on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer.
6’3 guard Chance Moore – Chamblee High School
Chance Moore out of Chamblee High School has received a lot of attention during his freshman season this year. Moore is a threat on the offensive side of the ball and is looking to score every time he has the rock. He will be Chamblee’s offensive threat over the course of his carreer there. He has an efficient pull up jumper and mid range shot that he can knock down with ease. His wingspan as a guard helps him force turnovers for the opposing teams. Chance is not the most energetic on defense but he can develop that over time. His scoring abilities as guard can make up for the lost time on the defensive end. Chance will be running with Game Elite this summer in the Adidas Gautlet gold divsion.
6’2 guard Taihland Owens – Cherokee High School
Star guard Taihland Owens did not really receive the attention he deserved this season after a fanstatic freshman campaing with the Warriors. Owens received All Region 1st team honors this season in Region 3 class 7A, which is an outstanding acheivement for a freshman. Taihland is a legit 6’2, 6’3 guard who can handle the ball very well. He is a play maker and facilitator on offense and can be a threat on defense as well. His skill as a freshman and scoring abilites standout the most. College coaches should be keeping tabs on this kid through his high school career. He has a high IQ and just a great feel for the game when he is on the floor, very efficient. Taihland will be running with Active Elite 17U this spring and summer.
