Underrated and Undervalued : 2018 Prospects Still Uncommitted
The Hillsborough County 2018 senior class is talented and this years games were super competitive amongst the top teams. Knowing this fact, why aren’t more guys committed to play at the next level? I took a look around the county to see who’s still available with the April signing day coming up.
5 2018 Still Available
Matt Simpson – the 6’1 Plant City senior guard can do it all. He shoots it well, defends, slashes, and gets teammates involved. He led Plant City to its first district title in over fifteen years and is Hillsborough County’s Player of the Year! 19.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists
Tyrick Brascom – for four years, he’s been the starting point guard for Tampa Bay Tech. Brascom is only 5’10 but has the heart of a lion. Each year he has gotten better and better. His impact on each game the year was immeasurable. Sweet handles, does not get rattled, scores and defends at a high level, and committed to do anything to win is what I think when thinking of Brascom. 2017/ 2018 averages: 18.8 points, 7.1 assists, 4.2 steals
Brandon Hill – Hill stands 6’7 and finishes around the rim well. The lefty surprises you with his athleticism and ability. He works hard and is a very vocal leader. 2017/ 2018 averages: 12.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocks
Triston Evans – Evans came on late in the year but his value to the Plant City team was felt immediately upon his debut. He’s 6’4 and has good handles. He creates space and gets his shot at will. Evans is also a high flyer who make highlight plays throughout games. 2017/2018 averages 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals.
Darrel (DJ) Henderson – Henderson is 6’5 and can play either guard position. He has a high IQ and will do whatever his team needs to get a win. From my view, he’s a coaches dream with the way he works hard on and off the court. He’s a leader, he can stroke it from deep or slash to the basket. 2017/ 2018 averages: 9 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks
