Recruiting Report: Jenson Beachy (2019)
Perham junior guard Jenson Beachy led the Yellowjackets to a 29-1 season and now is ready for the 17u season and the recruiting part of high school to step forward. Beachy is a two sport recruited athlete.
“Since I’ve been an 8th grader playing varsity, this has been our most successful season going 29-1,” Jenson said. “We really came together as a family, with my teammates, and the great coaching staff. We’re trying to build the mentality of everyone being ALL IN.”
Perham is 56-4 the last two seasons consistently winning throughout the year.
“In my opinion, this year was my most successful year individually as well,” Beachy said. “Being a junior captain I was more capable to lead, and I saw big improvements in my passing abilities and ball handling. I was given the opportunity to bring the ball up a lot more in big games this year.”
Jenson scored 16.7 points per game, dished out 5.3 assists a contest, and 2.3 steals a night as well. Now the Yellowjackets leader is ready to play with a talented Comets DeLo group which has a chance to be very good as it’s a strong unit of talent from around the state.
“I’m playing with Minnesota Comets DeLo this year. Our team is looking solid so far with a lot of guys who know how to win and grind every game.”
Jenson is being talked to for football and basketball at the next level. Beachy will have a nice list of options to choose from, in a couple sports.
“Winona State, Jamestown, and some MIAC schools have been in contact for basketball,” Jenson said. “Quite a few D1 FCS football schools have been interested in me as well.”
Beachy received junior day invites from NDSU, SDSU, UND, and Princeton for football.
In nine games last fall, Beachy completed 151 of 229 passes (66%) for 2,373 yards and 23 touchdown. He also had 84 carries for 382 yards and four scores.
