Roster Breakdown: This group is full of shooters and players who will play tough every play. You have Luke Heady and Karsten Windlan, a duo from Carmel who can shoot lights out, then you have guys like Jesse Burdick and Damieon Warrum who will be able to play inside. Burdick likes to stretch it out a bit more than Warrum but they are both really good defensively. This roster is very versatile and this year we will see them score a bunch of points in a ton of different lineups.
Guy You Have To Watch: Luke Heady (Carmel)
Heady is a really fun player to watch. His father used to be his coach at Carmel before moving on to Marian and turning their program around. You can tell that Heady is a high IQ guy and makes all the right decisions. He is very fundamental and can shoot the deep ball at a high clip as well. He is a scorer who should be able to create for himself a little more this summer. Heady is s a fun guy to watch when he plays..
Best Bet To End Up Breaking Out: Jesse Burdick (Marshall (Ill.))
Burdick has always been that guy that is on the cusp of breaking out. He is able to knock down a jumper and score with his back to the basket. Burdick is a tough kid but this year coaches will be watching to see if he is able to get inside on a consistent basis. I think this summer is the year where his recruiting really takes off and becomes something where D1 coaches know his name. He will have to toughen up and stick more inside for that to happen.
Who Should Be Watching: Any non-D1
This team is loaded with players who should play in college but most likely non D1. Guys like Burdick, McCall Ray, and Nate Soltis have the potential to climb up into the low major ranks, but at this point are probably better suited as high level NAIA or D2 players. A few are locked to being D3 and will be very good players at that level. I could see one or two of these guys breaking out and garnering some low major interest this summer though.
