Spring Preview: 2019 Breakout Posts
The spring is now just about here and we are spending time over the next month preparing and previewing all you need to know about the 2019 class as AAU gets ready to get going. We will breakdown many areas with not only position breakdowns but the best of the best. Today, we are looking at those top breakout candidates in the 2019 class.
Prospect | HT | POS | High School |
Ali Ali | 6’7 | SF | East Noble |
Sawyer Stoltz | 6’8 | PF | Huntington North |
Nathan Childress | 6’6 | PF | Zionsville |
Jakobie Robinson | 6’7 | PF | Warren Central |
Wesley Jordan | 6’7 | PF | Lawrence Central |
The size in this class is stellar and it is as skilled as we have ever seen. So many guys that can do a number of things and they are going to become much bigger names once teams turn their attention to 2019.
Ali Ali has really developed his skill and looks like he’s a lock to breakout. He was seen by a few DI coaches this year that seemed to love his upside. He’s even grown and it looks like he might still be going. His sort of size and athleticism with some skill is going to draw some eyes.
Sawyer Stoltz is a guy that we have really liked since last summer. He’s like Ali where he’s kept growing and now he’s got that size and skill that really separates him from others. His shooting ability is what can make him special. He’s really good off the catch and can create a bit as well along the arc.
Nathan Childress has really stepped up this year becoming a much better rebounder and showing some improved toughness that has benefited him well. He’s really versatile and while still more of a forward, can likely guard wings and true post players due to his athleticism and agility.
Jakobie Robinson is a guy that has still been coming out of his shell a bit and needs a little more consistency but if he gets to that point, he’s going to be great. This summer could offer him a little more flow to the offense and show off his athleticism.
Wesley Jordan isn’t even a year removed from his injury that made him miss all last AAU season. He’s healthy and back now and still getting into the flow. But, if he feels like he has his legs back, he could be a guy that draws a lot of attention pretty quickly.
