Spring Preview: 2019’s Toughest Wings
The spring is now just about here and we are spending time over the next month preparing and previewing all you need to know about the 2019 class as AAU gets ready to get going. We will breakdown many areas with not only position breakdowns but the best of the best. Today, we are looking at those toughest prospects in the 2019 class.
Prospect | HT | POS | High School |
Keion Brooks Jr. | 6’7 | SF | Fort Wayne North |
Aaron Etherington | 6’6 | SF | Hamilton Southeastern |
Craig Young | 6’6 | SF | Fort Wayne Wayne |
Nate Soltis | 6’5 | SF | Cardinal Ritter |
Lucas Kroft | 6’5 | SF | Fort Wayne North |
The class of 2019 has that size and with that comes strength. However, it doesn’t always mean you become tough because of that. Here are the ones, though, that stand out the most at the wing spots.
Keion Brooks Jr. is about as tough as they come. He’s a high-level prospect, and elite one, for a lot of reasons and a big part of that is the toughness and energy he brings. He doesn’t really take plays off and always tends to be the guy going out of his way to make plays.
Aaron Etherington loves to play physical. He’s aggressive and built well for it. Where he shows out is around the rim. Trying to score is and rebounding is where he’s very difficult to deal with because he will just outwork you.
Craig Young is another football/basketball prospect but Young is almost assuredly going to play football. However, he’s an exceptional basketball player and the toughest, most physical guy you will see. 6’6 and every bit of 200+ pounds. Just a monster.
Nate Soltis is the ultimate energy/effort/toughness guy. He plays every play like it is his last and he’s big, physical, and strong. He will go after loose balls, 50/50 rebounds, and defend at a high level.
Lucas Kroft is another wing that has toughness at the rim. Loves to play a little fast and has the strength and physicality to really score down low. Has a lot of the tools you need to be good as they develop.
