Potential Spring Stock Risers: 2019 Class
High school basketball is over and we’re on to AAU season. The 2019 class features 10 players who already hold Division 1 offers and there are multiple others who could receive their first offers this spring. Here’s a look at some players who could really boost their stock in the spring AAU season.
Nick Thelan, Covington Catholic (EG10) – Thelan was a glue guy for the 2018 state champions. The 6’7″ forward already holds an offer from D2 powerhouse Bellarmine and could see a big uptick in his recruiting with a strong spring on the Adidas Gold circuit with Indiana’s EG10, sponsored byEric Gordon.
Darius Osborne, Pleasure Ridge Park (The Ville) – Osborne possesses the size and length that college coaches covet but he’s often lacked the motor that coaches want to see. If Darius can flash his outside shooting abilities as well as his rim protection, there’s a good chance at least one college will want to take a chance on a kid with Osborne’s length and upside.
Jordan Graham, George Rogers Clark (M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs) – Graham has been the hottest recruit in the Commonwealth in the last week. With offers from Tennessee Tech, Campbellsville and Tusculum College already in hand, Graham could see even more come his way once he gets in front of coaches at the end of next month.
Keaston Brown, Henry Clay (Team Manimal) – Keaston missed his 16u season with injury and looks to make up for that in a big way this spring. Several schools have already been in contact with his high school coach (and dad) Daniel Brown about Keaston and will be out to check him out in April on the Adidas circuit with Team Manimal.
JJ Ramey, South Laurel (Starz United) – Ramey is coming off of a very successful Junior season with the 13th Region Runner-Up. JJ is a really good athlete and can score in bunches. Starz United has a solid 17u team and Ramey is likely their best player. If Ramey shows he can score on athletes and guard them too, he can see offers in his future.
Jamarion Sharp, Hopkinsville (Pocket City) – Sharp had modest averages of 3 points and 3 rebounds per game in his junior season at Hoptown but he possesses what 99% of Kentuckians don’t. Sharp is 6’10 with a long wingspan. Jamarion blocks shots and can finish around the rim. He is very raw but grew 6 inches last year and a some coach will take a chance on that type of size and upside.
