Recruiting Report: Christian Stanislav (2019)
This past season, Christian Stanislav proved once again that he can be a top player in the state.
The 6-foot-5 wing led Class 3A state champs Glenwood in scoring while averaging 15.3 points per game. That was a team that had two of the state’s best 2018s in Andrew Blum and Nate Mohr.
Still, his recruitment has been a bit slower than expected.
“I think recruitment has upped a little bit since last year. But I’d still say I’m flying a little under the radar,” said Stanislav.
“I’ve heard from a couple D2s, like Sioux Falls and there was a couple other D2 schools that I’ve gotten information from, and a couple NAIAs too.”
A proven scorer, Stanislav worked this season on other aspects of his game.
“This season I worked more on my defense and rebounding, because I think scoring was already one of my main strengths. So, this season was a good time to work on other aspects of my game, I think,” he said.
“I thought it was a good season for me. It’s always good to have balanced scoring, and I think that was one of the keys to our success this year.”
After playing with Southwest Iowa Select last summer for 16U offseason, Stanislav will play with Iowa Barnstormers 17U this spring and summer.
“It should be super fun, and hopefully I can get a little recognition this summer as well.”
His ultimate recruitment objective is to play somewhere where he could make a major impact. Whether that’s D1 or D2, or something else, that’s the goal.
“Of course everyone’s dream is playing Division I, at that top level in college, and going somewhere where I could play would be ideal for me. If that means D2, that would be fine with me,” said Stanislav.
“But just somewhere where I’d have the chance to play and improve myself.”
