Jus Byerly Showcase Standouts: Part 2
Richland Northeast HS Junior Guard Norman Nowell: He displayed a very smooth game but also a nice amount of acceleration and quickness throughout the day. His ability to get to the basket almost at will was impressive, on the defensive end he displayed nice lateral quickness and quick hands.
West Brunswick HS Freshman Guard Makoa Surigao: Shooting wise he didn’t have his best day but as far as overall impact on the game, he showed some flashes of how good he can be. His IQ for the game is above average and he is one that it would be wise to keep a very close eye on in the upcoming years.
Victory Christian Junior Forward/Center Felix Cue: Skillset wise he still raw but he’s got the height at 6’6-6’7 and a strong frame that catches attention almost immediately. If he continues to work and puts it all together he could be a very nice prospect and play his way into some smaller college interest and offers.
Mount Zion Christian Academy Junior Guard El Ellis: If there was a Camp MVP award, then he would get my vote without a doubt. He was dominant throughout the day, scoring the ball just about whenever he wanted. Regardless of what kind of defense he faced, it didn’t slow him down in any type of way and he showed why he is a prospect that quite a few D1 programs are interested in.
New Life Christian Junior Wing Latrell Jones: Physique wise he already looks as if he is on campus at a college program due to his upper body strength. He displayed a nice skillset from the wing spot and was one of the more unselfish players at the event, just a nice showing from a good college prospect.
Carolina Day Sophomore Guard Lee Langstaff: One of the best shooters at camp all day, he showed that he has range on his shot and that he doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot off. He’s more than just a shooter though, he can get inside the paint and embraces contact very well, one to watch closely over the next two years.
