Best 2018’s Available in North Carolina
Colleges are sifting through old recruiting notebooks looking at evaluations trying to land a late steal. North Carolina still has several prospects flying under the radar that will be the perfect fit for a college. Prep Hoops North Carolina features under the radar recruits at all levels.
Jaylen Richard (6’5, 2018 W/G, Jordan HS)-Richard is one of the hottest prospects in the state right now and has been picking up a little more interest lately. He is a long and athletic player that can shoot it from the outside.
Davonte Gathers (6’3, 2018 G, New Life Christian)-Gathers is an athlete, high-flying scorer who has a high-motor, good defensive fundamentals and should be on JuCo radars. He has recently received some interest from Catawba Valley Community College.
Darren Crump (6’2, 2018 G, Reagan HS)-strong lefty that can score from the post and around the basket, capable of making 3pt shot off the catch, plays with a high motor and is strong.
Marque Maultby (6’1, 2018 G, Garner HS)-Maultby is a skilled guard that helped lead Garner High School to the third round of the NCHSAA playoffs. He has picked up some offers recently and has a preferred walk-on option at North Carolina if he chooses.
Junub Char (6’4, PG, Village Christian)-Good size at the point guard position, has a high basketball IQ and understands the in’s and out’s of the game. Is a player that has a high-level of athleticism and has the ability to knock down shots.
Ody Oguama (6’9, F, Cardinal Gibbons)-Oguama has the ability to defend, rebound, and protect the rim; he can get to the rim with ease, He is very athletic for his size and can play above the rim or can use his soft touch below the rim, he has a high motor and can run the floor very well.
Jomaru Brown (6’4, G, Southern Durham HS)-The former Evansville recruit has opened his recruiting back up after the coaching change. The University of Alabama-Birmingham and Temple have been in contact about watching a workout. Brown is a strong scoring guard that will make an impact along the mid-major level in college basketball.
Cameron Whiteside (6’4, PG) Thomasville HS)-Whiteside is a walking double-double and is leading Thomasville this season at 25 points and 11 rebounds per game. He is a guard with good size at 6-foot-4 and can see over defenses to make the easy pass or to get his shot off.
KC Hankton (6’8, F, United Faith)-Hankton is a skilled four-man that can step outside and knock down the long-range jumper and can stretch the floor. He runs the floor well and can finish at the rim. He has athlete in his genes as his dad played with the Carolina Panthers.
Ahmad Jeffries (6’4, G, New Garden Friends)-Jeffries is a bucket. Plain and simple. This kid knows how to score from anywhere on the floor. He is scoring at a pace 14 points higher than he did last season. He is getting college interest from some mid-major programs who are looking for a shooter/scorer.
Isaiah Pruett (5’9. PG, Reynolds HS)– Pruett is averaging almost 27 points per game so far this season for Reynolds HS. He gets the majority of his points from the free-throw line and uses that as a means of scoring points. He can get into the paint with ease and defenses have no option other than fouling or letting him score. He is a decent three-point shooter who can get hot at times.
Stephen Edoka (6’4, G, Concord First Assembly)-A strong built guard that can score from most points on the floor, he is a good defender and can take opponents off the dribble.
