2019 S.L.A.M. G Issad Solano talks states, recruitment and more
It was a whole lot of fun watching Issad Solano put it all on the line in the Class 4A state tournament earlier this month.
The 2019 S.L.A.M. guard led his side with 28 points and 15 rebounds in the state semifinal loss to eventual champion Westminster. Alongside 2020 forward Kentron Poitier (13 points and 17 rebounds in that game), the duo was dynamic all season long.
S.L.A.M. finished the season 29-3.
“This past season went well. We didn’t finish like how we wanted but we accomplished a lot as a team,” Solano told Prep Hoops Florida. “I learned how important it is to always be ready to compete at a high level. My coaches tell me you never know who’s watching.”
This summer, Solano will be suiting up for Florida Gold Coast 17U on the Adidas Gauntlet.
No offers have come yet for him, but Solano has drawn interest from UNF, Palm Beach Atlantic and Austin Peay.
Solano called his biggest strengths his attack to the basket and ability to be a slasher. He also said he likes to handle the ball and make everyone around him better. He’s looking to improve his 3-point shot this summer.
As a combo guard, Solano has the ability to hurt you at any time with his jumper, attack or passing. Expect a really sound summer from the 2019 prospect as he’ll get to show off his game in front of a plethora of college coaches.
