Best Available 2018 Prospects in Oklahoma
Colleges are sifting through old recruiting notebooks looking at evaluations trying to land a late steal. Oklahoma still has several prospects flying under the radar that will be the perfect fit for a college. Prep Hoops Oklahoma features ten under the radar recruits at all levels.
Caleb Huffman 2018 Broken Arrow Combo Guard
Huffman had a great season for Broken Arrow leading his squad to the Class 6A semifinals. He is a dynamic gifted athletic Point Guard that thrives with the basketball in his hands. Huffman will have to go JUCO out of high school. Look for his name to resurface in a couple of years as he could potentially be an NCAA Division I recruit.
Mo Wilson 2018 Northwest Classen Wing
Wilson is a prospect that has flown up the charts with his great improvement over the last year. The 6’5 size of Wilson mixed with his athleticism, motor, and productiveness across the board make him a very under the radar player. Wilson has a choice to make between going JUCO for a year or two (he is a qualifier) or opting for a four-year career at an NCAA Divison II program.
David Ward 2018 Webster Wing/Forward
Ward is one of the skilled players in the entire Oklahoma 2018 Class. The lack of a consistent motor is the biggest reason why NCAA Division I programs never pulled the trigger. However, if you look at what Ward produced this season on the court there is a reason to believe Ward can work hard and lead. Ward will be one of the top JUCO prospects out of Oklahoma this year. I would also not be surprised if Ward was swooped up by an NCAA Division I school late.
Josh Robinson 2018 Broken Arrow Wing
Robinson is an extremely athletic 6’5 Wing with upside. Two years at a JUCO could help Robinson with his shooting form for a consistent jumper. If Robinson can bring consistent play on defense with an improved jumper he could elevate to an NCAA Division I prospect out of JUCO.
Blake Owens 2018 Putnam City North Post
Owens is a super active big man that had a tremendous senior season at Putnam City North. He averaged a double-double expanding his offensive game with a new and improved jumper. Owens has a choice to make between NCAA Division II and JUCO programs.
Camden Patterson 2018 Ringwood Forward
Patterson is in a similar spot as Owens as he appears to be down to NCAA Division II, JUCO or Prep School. He has always been a 6’11 Forward with great potential. If he can turn his potential into production at a JUCO or Prep School he could raise his stock big time. The size of Patterson is very intriguing to colleges.
Juwan White 2018 Norman North Guard
White had a good end to his high school career at Norman North. He is a Combo Guard that plays with a good change of pace and can score it at all three levels. The recruitment of White has been a heavy dose of JUCO’s from the region.
Kori Guest 2018 Tulsa Memorial Wing
Guest is one of the most improved players in Oklahoma. He is a 6’5 Wing that excels at shooting the basketball. Guest has become one of the best JUCO prospects.
Dalton Vinson 2018 Hennessey Post
Vinson is a strong Forward that grinds it out on the floor for his team each night. He has turned into a reliable back to the basket scorer. It appears Vinson is headed to the NCAA Division II level.
Stephon Hall 2018 Mount Saint Mary Point Guard
Hall had a good season as the floor general for Mount Saint Mary. He is a crafty guard with a good jumper. Hall has an offer from USAO one of the top NAIA Division I programs in the region. He will likely end up at an NAIA or NCAA Divison II program.
Michiah McQuarters 2018 Union Wing
McQuarters is an interesting prospect. This list fits McQuarters extremely well because he is flying very under the radar. At 6’4 on the Wing McQuarters is intriguing with his skills to play both ways at a high level. McQuarters is one of the top NCAA Division II projected prospects remaining in Oklahoma.
Kamden Gipson 2018 Edmond Santa Fe Point Guard
Gipson gets overlooked because of his size. However, if you went off of production Gipson would be one of the top player’s pound for pound in the state. He can handle the rock, run a team, score at all three levels and defends with intensity. Gipson recently picked up his first NCAA Division II offer from SWOSU.
Jon Matthews 2018 Heritage Hall Point Guard
Matthews is similar to Gipson in size. He has a ton of game and led Heritage Hall to a state championship this year. Matthews could provide an NCAA Division II or NAIA program stability at the Point with smart decision making and defenders have to respect his ability to score.
Jackson Dyer 2018 Westmoore Post
Dyer is an undervalued big considering what he brings to the table. He is super active seemingly always making plays around the ball. Rebounding is the strongest area in his game. Over the last year, Dyer has become a reliable scorer in the paint. Dyer projects to the NCAA Division II level, but I could also see him finding a home developing more at a JUCO program.
Riley Island 2018 Calumet Point Guard
Island is a high volume shooter that can get hot in a hurry. He is a gamechanger on offense with the ability to win his team a game. Defense is the biggest question mark surrounding Island entering college. He could play at any level of small college basketball.
Brock Schreiner 2018 Choctaw Point Guard
Schreiner plays with great pace at the Point. He ran the offense very efficiently this season. There is not one thing Schreiner does great, but a lot of things he does well. He projects to the NCAA Division II level.
CJ Parks 2018 Muskogee Post
Parks is a big that gets lost in the shuffle a little. Muskogee had a rough season leading Parks to get overlooked. He is one of the most skilled big men in the Oklahoma Class. He can play inside-out has good strength and is not afraid to battle in the paint. I think Parks is a perfect fit at the JUCO level where he can develop and show coaches what he can be in two years.
Brevin Nyberg 2018 Seiling Guard
Nyberg is largely overlooked because of where he played his high school basketball and limited exposure through grassroots hoops. He is an efficient scorer that can play the Point or the two. He reminds me a lot of Tanner Mouse at Ketchum from a few seasons ago. Nyberg is a gamer and will be a big find for a school looking for a gamer late. He could play at any level of small college basketball.
Micah Lena 2018 New Lima Wing
Lena is a dynamic scorer from the Wing with great size. He can fill it up from three-point range. If Lena went to the right JUCO program he could really turn some heads with his ability over the two-year span.
Shemar Walker 2018 Tulsa Memorial Point Guard
Walker is a beast with the rock in his hands at the Point. The biggest reason he does not have more schools recruiting him hard is the lack of size. That said Walker has proved against the best he has what it takes to be a good small college Point Guard. He plays with a chip on his shoulder at all times doing anything and everything he can to help his team win.
Tyus Jeffries 2018 Edmond Santa Fe Wing/Forward
Jeffries is a prospect that has picked up steam with a very strong senior the versatility of Jeffries is off the charts. At the small college level, Jeffries will be able to guard 2-5 and switch on a Point Guard with ease. Jeffries turned into a reliable threat to score the basketball this year at Edmond Santa Fe as well. He will be a late steal for a small college due to his versatility and moreover because he is a winner.
Jace Pratt 2018 Sperry Point Guard
Size is the biggest question mark on Jace Pratt at the next level. Shooting is his biggest strength as he is arguably the best three-point shooter in Oklahoma with the numbers he put up this season. He could play at any small college level. JUCO is an intriguing option for Pratt to prove himself to NCAA Division II programs.
