Class 4 All-Final Four Team
Prep Hoops Missouri was in Springfield, MO last weekend for the Class 4 state championships at the JQH Arena on the campus of Missouri State University. Grandview High made history by winning its first state championship with an 81-63 victory over Raytown South in an All-Kansas City final. In the third-place game, Jennings defeated Sikeston 79-74 in an overtime thriller.

Most Valuable Player
Jordan Lathon (Grandview): The 6’4″ Northwestern signee put on a dominant performance in the Bulldogs victory against Raytown South in the championship game. Lathon had 24 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. He came out strong and set the tone in the first quarter with 11 points, including a steal and dunk to stake Grandview to a 20-11 lead. In the semifinals, he had eight points, five assists and three steals in the Bulldogs’ come-from-behind victory over Sikeston. Defensively, Lathon was a problem all weekend long with his combination of length and tenacity.
The Next Five
Deandre Sorrells (Grandview): The 6’0″ 2019 guard was excellent for the Bulldogs during their run to the state championship. Sorrells scored a team-high 17 points and made five 3-pointers in the Bulldogs 59-56 victory over Sikeston in the state semifinals. He made the 3-pointers with less than two minutes left to give Grandview the lead to stay late in the game. In the championship game, Sorrells scored 19 points and was a perfect seven-for-seven from the free throw line.
Jamar Madge (Raytown South): The 6’3″ 2018 guard scored a team-high 23 points, grabbed six rebounds and had two steals in the loss to Grandview in the state-championship game. All 23 of his points came after halftime. In the semifinals against Jennings, Madge scored 14 points and had three assists. He is a smooth guard who displayed scoring ability at all three levels during the weekend.
Sevon Witt (Raytown South): The 6’6″ 2018 forward had 13 points and 13 rebounds in the Cardinals’ 61-57 victory over Jennings in the state semifinals. He followed up with 17 points and six rebounds in the state-championship game against Grandview. Witt was a load inside throughout the weekend with his scoring and rebounding. His combination of power and finesse made him tough to handle.
Kyle Younge, Jr. (Jennings): The 5’9″ 2018 guard closed out his career in style with 31 points, three rebounds, four assists and six steals in the victory over Sikeston in the third-place game. Younge was 14 of 20 from the free throw line. He had 19 points and six steals in the loss to Raytown South in the state semifinals.
Fred Thatch, Jr. (Sikeston): The 6’3″ Saint Louis U. signee had 21 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Bulldogs 59-56 loss to Grandview in the state semifinals. He had an eight-point run with back-to-back 3-pointers in the first quarter that blew the roof off the place. In his final game, Thatch had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the third-place game against Jennings. He finished his stellar career with more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
