The Class AA All State Team
The South Dakota high school basketball season has ended so it’s now time to start honoring so many excellent student athletes that had great seasons starting with the Class AA All State Team.
All State First Team
Matthew Mors, Yankton, Freshmen. This is Class AA’s Most Valuable Players. Mors has went toe to toe with the best players in the state all year and outplayed many. Then, at the season’s most important time, the state tournament, Mors turned up his game and earned Yankton a state championship. Big numbers, big medals, and a state championship that nobody can take away. Matthew Mors is a freshmen and he is your Class AA MVP. Add it to the resume. An average of 24 points and 6-7 rebounds a game and a state title will do that.
Kailleb Walton-Blanden, RC Central, Senior. The senior averaged 14 points and four assists a game and earned himself an all state tournament team honor for his season long play. Walton-Blanden is one of the state’s more explosive players and his excellent senior year led Central to the state semi-finals.
Cooper Bowman, RC Stevens, Senior. Stevens grabbed a third place in state finish with Bowman leading the team at 14 points and five assists a game. Bowman was named all state tournament team and earned the Spirit of Su honor for the Class AA level. Stevens spent several weeks at number one this year and Bowman’s fight was a big reason why.
Brady Van Holland, Harrisburg, Senior. The Harrisburg senior class changed things at their school. The basketball program was picked up in a big way and a balanced team brought a lot of excitement. Brady was named all state tournament, he was named all conference, and he was a top scorer for this balanced team.
Diang Gatlauk, Lincoln, Senior. Diang put up 15.4 points and six rebounds a game for Lincoln and earned himself all conference and all state honors this year. Gatlauk played to his potential and had a solid year. Now he takes his game to the D1 junior college level at NDSCS.
All State Second Team
Dylan Hay, RC Central, Senior. Hale and Walton-Blanden were a 1-2 punch that pretty much accomplished the same things number wise and honors wise. Hay averaged 14 points and just over four assists a game.
Dylan Pourier, Douglas, Junior. Dylan earned all state tournament team honors after leading his team to the consolation title. Dylan was the team’s leading scorer at a dozen a night.
Jaron Zwagerman, SF O’Gorman, Senior. Jaron shouldered a lot of the load this season averaging 18 plus points per game and grabbing all conference and all state tournament team.
Logan Uttecht, SF Washington, Senior. An all state football player also earned himself all conference in hoops and was named to the all state tournament team.
