Morgan Park Wins 3A Title
Morgan Park does it again and #1 2018 Ayo Dosunmu closes his career out with another state championship. The Mustangs defeated Springfield Southeast on Saturday afternoon.
It was a physical, smack talking, and fast paced game. Each team went on separate runs throughout the first two quarters. Morgan Park closed the first quarter on 7-0 run. Southeast came right back with a spurt to start the second quarter taking the lead back 23-22. Behind a big first half from their star Ayo Dosunmu. Morgan Park held the lead at half 35-27.
It look like Morgan Park was going to run away with the game early in the third quarter, but Southeast came back with a 10-0 run to cut it to one point. Dosunmu hit a huge half court shot to close third quarter up 54-45. Southeast star Anthony Fairlee fouled out in the early fourth quarter and Morgan Park never looked back. The Mustangs repeat as 3A state champs with a win of 71-56.
The state’s #1 prospect Ayo Dosunmu finished his historic career in style going for 28 points. He scored in a variety of ways. Drilled several jump shots including some threes. Got to the rack and foul line as usual. One of the best players of this decade in the state of Illinois. Cam Burrell got on the offense of glass and hit several short jumpers. Such an athletic and mobile four man. He had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Top sophomore Adam Miller got things started early on in the game from three finishing with 11 points. Top 20 2020 point guard Marcus Watson played great defense and was poised offensively going for 9 points and 5 assists.
For Southeast top 10 2019 shooting guard Anthony Fairlee played well showing off his athleticism, toughness, and improving skill. He had 16 points and 10 board. Terrion Murdix went for 12 points and 7 dimes in title. Both are poised for big summers on the circuit.
