NCHSAA 4A East Region All State Tourney Team: Part 1
South Central HS Sophomore Forward Dayron Sharpe: If you didn’t know much about him prior to the season, I’m sure you know much more about him now. Dayron had an impressive year and his potential to be good is very high. Schools such as UNC and Ohio State have already been in to watch him and things will only get better for him as time goes on.
South Central HS Junior Guard Shykeim Phillips: His play throughout the season has helped his stock in a major way as he continues to catch the attention of MM D1 schools. He can score the ball very well, is a crafty ball handler and seems like he enjoys having the ball in his hands in the final moments of tight matchups.
Holly Springs HS Senior Wing Erik Alvey: If you like high flying players, then you will definitely be a fan of his game as he has thrown down quite a few big time dunks this season. However he is more than just a dunker, he brings a nice overall skillset and has nice upper body strength.
Hoke County HS Senior Guard Dakari Johnson: All season long he put up nice numbers for Hoke County and would average just under 19 points a night on the season. He’s strong, quick and brings a business like attitude to the court whenever he plays, high character kid.
Leesville Road Junior Guard Jalen Benjamin: The way he controls a game and finds ways to get everybody involved while keeping his turnovers low is impressive. Several D1 programs have already offered and it won’t be a surprise to see him pick up some more offers as time goes on.
Garner HS Senior Guard Marque Maultsby: At 6’3 with a long wingspan and a high IQ for the game, you can see why this young man had a breakout season and picked up quite a bit of interest and offers. He is a high character youngster and brings a team first attitude every time he steps on the floor.
