Q&A With Isaiah Jackson: Old Redford And The Playoffs
Isaiah Jackson is a unique talent. At 6-7, he’s long and athletic. Jackson is a skilled forward who is good with the ball, active on the glass, and a dangerous finisher. He is one of the most physically gifted basketball players, not just in Michigan’s class of 2020, but in the country. His talented Old Redford team squares off tonight against River Rouge in the Regional Final. I caught up with Isaiah Jackson to talk about his season, his team and the playoffs.
Question: Your team has some elite level talent. What’s it like playing together?
Isaiah Jackson: It’s really a blessing to play with all this talent and playing alongside Rocket, Dre, and Troy.
Question: How have you and your teammates prepared for the playoffs?
Isaiah Jackson: We just been practicing, working hard in the lab, and listening to our coaches.
Question: What do you think is the key to your team making a deep run in the playoffs?
Isaiah Jackson: I think it is listening to our coaches cause it seems like whenever they have a game plan and our team executes, we win.
Question: What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment in high school basketball so far?
Isaiah Jackson: I think it’s where we are right now cause last year I got put out the first round and now all of a sudden we are marking a big playoff run.
Question: What is your best memory from this season?
Isaiah Jackson: I think it’s winning the districts. It felt real good winning something but I’m not satisfied.
Question: What do you think is a key to winning your game tonight?
Isaiah Jackson: Just listening to the coach’s game plan and going out there playing our brand of basketball.
Question: Who do you feel is the toughest player you may match up with in the playoffs?
Isaiah Jackson: I think it’s going to be Romeo Weems. He’s going to be the toughest but we got something for him.
Question: Are you happy with your season so far?
Isaiah Jackson: No. I think we could have done way better but like I said I’m not satisfied with winning the districts. We won but still, we have way bigger goals then just districts.
Question: What are you looking forward to the most about the offseason?
Isaiah Jackson: I’m going to be working on my guard skills, my post moves, getting bigger and faster, and my jump shot mid and 3. I’mma really be working on everything.
Question: What motivates you to be the great basketball player that you are?
Isaiah Jackson: I think it’s the people that’s still playing and all the players that played before me. I like to watch a lot of LeBron, Bol Bol, Marvin Bagely, Shaq, Michael Porter Jr, and just try to take some of there moves and apply it to my game.
