Breakdown: The class of 2020 with regards to rebounding, has quite a few interesting players. Guys with size dominate the landscape and built more around wings than posts. There are a number of players that stretch from DI to DIII giving quite a few options for every team.
When looking at the post players, Mabor Majak, Kiyron Powell, and Keegan O’Neill bring in those honors as the best rebounders. Majak has really done well over his career with his unreal length and athletic ability to reel in boards. His hands are solid and he’s only going to get better. Powell is the guy that is improving pretty quickly. He produced well at the high school level this year and that length is going to be something that gives him those chances to get better. O’Neill isn’t nearly as tall as those two but he’s more of a load to handle and he’s quick enough to the spot to make it really tough to stop him.
Will Geiger and Malek Edmonds are tweener post players but if they could grow a bit, that would go a long ways. Geiger is more mobile and athletic and just reads the ball so well off the rim. Edmonds is longer while still being mobile and can grab boards over the top of defenders.
The wings really make this a good group. Tre Coleman, Dillon Duff, and Deontae Craig has the most upside of this group. Craig is really aggressive and so physically overpowering that you can’t really stop him. Coleman is the most athletic of this group and he’s got the size to steal things away with an attitude to want the ball. Duff is pretty athletic and reads the ball well with that same attitude. He wants the ball and does the best earning buckets off of rebounds.
Sneaky good players in this class when looking at rebounding are Carson Barrett and Andrew Welage. More wing players with skill and ball handling, they both just tend to get the ball whenever they want and put themselves in good spots to get the board.
