Small College Prospects at Finals
The state championship games are always a good way to get a chance to see kids that you may not be able to see a lot of because of their location. The NCHSAA pits a winner from the East against a winner from the West for the finals and it is hard to see players from all over the state. Here is a look at some Division II, III, NAIA and Junior College prospects from the state championships held this past weekend.
6’0, 2018 G Torrence Clark (Greene Central HS)-Clark scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 6 assists for Greene Central in the final. He is a do-it-all type guard for Greene Central and is a stat sheet stuffer. At 6-foot he can get a lot of things done on the floor.
5’11, 2018 G Don’Quez Davis (Greene Central HS)-A quick first step and a great crossover is what will get Davis seen by coaches for the next level. He is a scoring facilitator and can put up some big numbers very quick.
5’9, 2018 PG Jahleel McLaughlin (Forest Hills HS)-McLaughlin is a speedy point guard that can score off the dribble, get into the paint, and can get his teammates involved. He averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebound and 5 assists this season and scored 16 points in the state final game including 4 assists and 2 rebounds.
6’1, 2018 G Gabe Kirkendall (Northside HS)-Kirkendall is a legitimate threat to score from the mid-range every time he gets his hands on the ball. He moves well without the ball and can knock down shots out to the three-point line. He is athletic and can finish in the paint. He can finish at the rim and does a god job of staying under-control.
6’0, 2019 G Cody Cline (Cox Mill HS)-Division 2 schools should take a look at 6’0, 2019 Cody Cline. Handles pressure, gets to the rim and finishes. Produces every time I have seen him. Plays with a chip on his shoulder and doesn’t back down from anyone.
