Players to Watch at the Big House
Prep Hoops will be across the entire state of Oklahoma this weekend. We will have coverage of every single game that is played! This article features players from Class 4A, 3A, and 2A.
Jett Sternberger 2019 Kingston Point Guard
Sternberger is arguably the most exciting player you will see this weekend at the Big House. Kingfisher has trusted Sternberger for his entire career to command the team running an efficient dynamic team. What makes Sternberger so enjoyable to watch is his three-point sniper skills. Opponents lookout you will need to face guard and keep a man on Sternberger at all times.
Darrius Phillips 2020 Roland Wing
Phillips is part of a great duo at Roland in the 2020 Class with Jaxon Wiggins being the Robin to him. The quickness and athleticism of Phillips help him to give teams trouble at both ends of the floor on the Wing. This will not likely be the last time Roland makes the state tournament under the guidance of Phillips and Wiggins.
Trey Alexander 2021 Heritage Hall Wing
Alexander is a rising star in Oklahoma. The top-ranked freshman prospect has the opportunity to be a game changer with his size at 6’4 and skill level. Alexander already holds a High Major offer from Oklahoma State he will get several more of those before his high school career wraps up. The smoothness of Alexander is what catches the eye instantly.
Kamron Brice 2018 McLain Wing
Brice is a bouncy, athletic, long Wing that has put his stamp on this McLain squad. This weekend Brice will be counted upon to carry a big load to advance McLain. The crowd will be pleased to watch Brice as he can put on a dunk show. He also has a knack for clutch moments.
Kobe Burgess 2019 Ada Point Guard
Burgess and Ada are rolling coming into the Class 4A State Tournament. The skills that have Burgess as a player to watch are his quickness on the court at both ends. He takes a lot of risks on defense but cashes in on a ton of steals leading to easy transition buckets. Burgess thrives on offense by getting to the rim.
Dalton Vinson 2018 Hennessey Post
Vinson is a load to handle in Class 3A. Any team that faces Hennessey will have to do everything they can to slow down him. If Vinson can stay out of foul trouble he will lead Hennessey a long way this weekend with his scoring and rebounding in the paint.
Trent Smith 2018 Latta Wing
Smith is a highly touted Wing in Class 2A. It is fun to watch all the different ways he can impact the basketball game. Latta is keying on Smith having a huge weekend to capture the Gold Ball,
David Ward 2018 Webster Wing
Ward is a dominant player on his Webster team. He can take over any game he is apart of because of his skill set. He is hard to matchup against and he is deceptively quick. He can bang down low and finish or take it off the dribble from the perimeter. Ward is vital to Tulsa Webster and their Cinderella run at the title.
Jace Pratt 2018 Sperry Guard
Pratt is one of the best shooters in the state. When Sperry team gets him the ball, he can take over any game. He has in the gym range. It is hard to stop Pratt. He will have to carry the load for Sperry to have a chance to take down Kingston.
Jacob Germany 2019 Kingston Post
Germany is the best player in Class 3A. He is dominant creating a matchup nightmare against any team he plays. He is athletic and can finish with huge dunks or he can step from mid-range and hit big shots. Germany will be hard to stop because of his size and ability.
Stephon Hall 2018 Mount St. Mary Point Guard
Hall is an underrated Point Guard that is fun to watch. He has a good shot and is not afraid to matchup with anyone. He is a solid defender and is always giving maximum effort. Hall will surprise some with how good he is in the tournament and how well he leads.
Syrus Grisby 2019 Luther Wing
Grisby is a stout good athlete in the paint. He has a solid shot from all three levels and can finish at the rim no matter who guards him. Grisby will be a hard matchup in Class 2A. On any given night Grisby can take over the game with his pure talent. Grisby will need to have a big weekend for the Lions to go deep.
Miles Monical 2019 Ketchum Wing
Monical is an effort guy. On a Ketchum team that has so many dynamic weapons around him, teams have to pick their poison. He has solid talent but makes up for what he lacks in talent with the effort he gives every play. He plays on both sides of the ball. On offense, he takes the ball to the rim and finishes well.
Robert Briley 2018 Wright City Wing
Briley is a leader on his dominant team. He steps up when the Lumberjax need him. Over the season he has been dominant at all times. He attacks the basket hard and can find his open teammates. Briley also has a solid shot from the perimeter. He will be the star of this Wright City team throughout the State Tournament.
