2021 Spring Preview: Central Indiana’s Best
Something new we are looking at this year is looking at different regions or quadrants in the state. There are many areas and hotbeds of talent in the state and we want to take a little bit more of a microscope to them to see what the nuances of the state will produce in each class. This is our look at Region 3 in the Indianapolis area.

Breakdown: The third region of the state is the Indianapolis area. There are a ton of talented players in every class in Indianapolis and this year is no different. They have two of the top four players in the state in Pierce Thomas and D.J. Hughes. Where it differs from past years is that those two are the only clear cut DI talent right now. Down the list there are a bunch that could move up but Thomas and Hughes are the only locks. That means more guys in other parts of the state will carry that distinction more os than in any other year.
The usually player producers aren’t as prevalent either. Lawrence North has a couple but places like North Central, Carmel, Zionsville, Southport, and Lawrence Central aren’t on the list as of yet. They could come into play as we see more players this summer but you have Park Tudor making a resurgence and Mooresville has a pair of forwards in here as well. Warren Central also is showing more development power in recent seasons and has a pair on here too.
The thing about this area that stands out is the amount of players that look like they are going to develop later in their high school careers and really provide the depth down the road. Guys like Johnny Brunk, Luke Fowler, Sean Black, Landon Morris, and Jayden Brewer are the most notable. They might not be up there now but they have that ability to join them down the road in the junior and senior seasons.
