A Family Affair: Top Brother Acts
High school basketball can be a family affair at times. With that in mind, Prep Hoops Missouri brings to you some of the top brother acts in the state of Missouri. If there are others that we have missed, drop us line and we will include them.
Kale and Jayce Catchings (Wentzville Liberty): The Catchings brothers led Liberty to a 20-8 record, a Class 4 District 8 championship and a berth in Tuesday night’s sectional playoffs. Kale, a 6’6″ 2018 Harvard commit, is averaging 18.8 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 52 percent from the field and 74 percent from the free throw line. Jayce, a 6’3″ 2020 guard, is a 3-point sniper who is averaging 16 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists while making 53 3-pointers and shooting 37 percent from long distance.
Clay and Dalton Gayman (Nevada): The Gaymans led Nevada to a conference championship and a berth in the Class 4, District 12 championship game. Clay, a 6’6″ 2018 Abilene Christian signee, finished a stellar prep career by averaging 22 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting more than 60 percent from the field. Dalton, a 6’5″ 2020 forward, averaged 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, two steals, two assists and two blocks per game.
A.J. and Adam Sommer (Parkway South): The brothers Sommer led the Patriots to the Suburban West Conference championship this season. A.J., a 6’5″ 2018 forward, averaged 14.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals a game. Adam, a 6’3″ 2020 guard, averaged 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range.
Grant and Wade Dyer (Eminence): The 6’1″ 2019 twin brothers have been big cogs in the Redwings’ machine that is currently 30-1 and playing in the Class 1 Final Four this weekend in Springfield. For the past two seasons, the Dyers have combined to averaged more than 25 points and 10 rebounds between them while providing athleticism and versatility to a strong Redwings’ lineup.
James and Jesse Little (Soldan): The 6’0″ 2019 twin brothers have been Soldan’s starting backcourt for the past three years. Jesse Little is the scoring guard of the duo, averaging 16 points a game while shooting 75 percent from the free throw line. James Little is a pass-first point guard who is averaging seven points and four assists a game while sunning the show. They led the Tigers bo a berth in the Class 4, District 4 championship game.
Bryson, Mason and Auston Luna (Dora): The 5’11” 2021 triplets have helped bring the Eagles into the statewide spotlight with a 24-6 record and a Class 1 district championship. Bryson Luna averaged 14.9 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range. Mason Luna averaged 12.7 points and five rebounds a game while Auston Luna averaged 5.7 points and 6.9 rebounds a game.
Owen and Parker Long (Sikeston): The 6’1″ 2019 twins have made a big impact for the Bulldogs after transferring in from Jasper, AL during the summer. They have helped the Bulldogs win the SEMO Conference title and a Class 4, District 1 championship. Both can handle the ball, pass the ball and knock down 3-pointers with consistency.
Andrew and Braden Nett (Troy): The Nett brothers helped lead the Trojans to a 17-10 record this season. Andrew, a 6’6″ 2018 forward, averaged 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range. Braden, a 6’1″ 2020 guard, averaged 11.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and two assists a game.
Dominique and Joseph Hardimon (Poplar Bluff): The Hardimon brothers led the Mules to a 19-9 record and a Class 5, District 1 championship. Dominique, a workhorse 6’4″ 2019 forward, is averaging 19.9 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 62 percent from the field. Joseph, a 5’11” 2021 guard is averaging 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range.
Dawson and Kam Dohogne (Cape Notre Dame): The Dohogne brother led Cape Notre Dame to a 15-12 record this season. Dawson, a 6’4″ 2018 forward, averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as one of the top post players in the SEMO area. Kam, a 5’9″ 2020 guard, averaged 11.1 points and 2.1 assists while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range.
D.J. and Brandon Miller (John Burroughs): The Miller brothers used their speed and quickness to help the Bombers to a 17-9 record and a Metro League championship. D.J., a 2019 guard and football prospect, averaged 9.0 points, five rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. Brandon, a 2020 guard and national-level track athlete, averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 assists and 3.7 steals a game.
